Thank you for the response! You’re not wrong, panpsychism does feel a bit like a cheat, but the same allegation could be made of the sim hypothesis. How is it parsimonious to posit a distinctly new/different level of reality? Why place God there when God could just as easily be here?
Certainly some good points to ponder. Why does panpsychism feel like a cheat? What is it that that we feel like we’re missing or missing out on with that hypothesis? Does it place God too near? Is it somehow heretical to make God too “real”, in the sense of our experienced reality?
I do wonder what Buddha meant when he spoke of “reaching the other shore”. It could be explained as another level of reality. He certainly believed in other worlds to some extent.
