Right? One thing I noticed is that critical system/organizational failures were covered up by the employees who (myself included) were going “above and beyond”. Therefore we never learned our lessons. So we continue limping along in this broken state that everyone just accepts. So I adopted a “let it fail”/“not my job” attitude, and deal with the fallout were my skills and job spec are appropriate.

And yes, it is a win-win. I know that I am blessed and privileged in ways that not many (not enough) are able to experience. As long as this “stand-off-of-one” lasts, I continue to have a decent income and pretty good benefits. I know how to kick the servers just right to make the magic IT smoke go where it’s supposed to go. They keep their products and sales moving.

And the capitalist train keeps on a’rolling…
