Indeed it would seem that an integral part of your dharma is/was to recognize a false teacher. One of the many illusions that haunt us on the path. I’m happy you were not fooled for long!
It’s been my experience that anyone who demands or insists upon loyalty doesn’t in fact deserve it. Loyalty, like respect, is earned through actions. Show, don’t tell. Confidence is quiet, bragging is loud.
Those that demand loyalty betray themselves and show their true colors in the very act of asking for it. They show they’ve done nothing to deserve it, or else you’d already be loyal.
