I agree with your point that “understanding” may not be the best word or translation for what is gained through stillness. “Sensing” is a good word, as well as “knowing”. Although, my definition of “knowing” may be a bit broad for some tastes. Check out a piece I wrote here on Medium called “The Pebble and the Pond” to get a vague sense of what I mean when I say “knowing”. I don’t normally self-promote my work but it’s relevant here.
