I would recommend anyone interested in Stoicism to read the original works and appreciate them for what they were at the time. (Misogynist Epictetus, I love you, but I’m looking at you!) The neo-stoic self-help racket really is just regurgitated common wisdom wrapped in a pretty and ancient philosophical package. I would agree that neo-stoicism is indeed bullshit, unless someone can point me to an author/thinker who has actually said something new in the tradition.
