I recently started reading “On Liberty”by John Stuart Mill. He talks about much of the same in his essay. Haven’t gotten far enough to see if he had any decent conclusions or advice for us. The part I just read this morning, he says we need both conservative and progressive voices in our government and that neither should achieve greater power over the other, but rather balance each other out. So there’s that at least, and I tend to agree. I also agree with his radical assertion that everyone is entitled to believe whatever they want, even if they’re blatantly wrong.

As I’ve stated in many other comments; freedom of thought and speech means that assholes are free to be assholes. But it also means that we are free to call them out on being assholes. Not stop them from believing whatever they believe, but simply call them assholes for believing such.

Yet another white dude with yet another opinion. Is that opinion founded in Wisdom? I don't know, you tell me.
