Freedom of speech means that assholes are free to say assholish things, but it also means that everyone is free to call them out on their asshole behavior. They don’t seem to understand that bit… And we’re absolutely free to distance ourselves from assholes.

As for the more violent assholery, distance is the best choice, but if one is unable to create that distance, then we are also free to protect ourselves however we see fit.
