First, I thank you for this invaluable service of research and analysis you’ve provided! It is quite reassuring and definitely presents the data in a very accessible format. Great job!
I must play devil’s advocate briefly. I’m not an “unhinged anti-vaxxer” by any means, I’m vaccinated and boosted personally. But let’s not allow the statistics distract us from the personal risks that we must take when making the decision to get vaccinated. 1 in 20mil sounds safe, until you’re that 1 that is affected, until it is someone you love that was the (un)lucky winner of that lottery. I’ve had at least one family member die after being vaccinated. They had pre-existing heart conditions. Maybe if they had known the risks better, they could have made a better informed decision? Doesn’t matter now, they’re dead.
Enough of playing advocate. I know this is anecdotal. But I’ve personally heard/known of at least, if not more cases, where someone refused to be vaccinated and died from Covid. A decade or two from now, when we hopefully have much more data, the numbers will point to vaccination as saving far more lives than it took. And hopefully we’ll better understand the risks and avoid giving it to those most at risk.
