Dennett’s “intentional stance” was intended to explain that illusion and apparently show us how silly it is. I’m with you in that I found his “explanation” lacking and not a serious position on consciousness. However, looking back on it with my newer, updated views on panpsychism, I find it pretty ironic that I actually am taking the “intentional stance” and doing so seriously and intentionally! Perhaps Dennett accidentally explained consciousness after all! 😂
