Damn skippy! I use this interval all of the time in my original compositions. Like you said , it’s a great way to build and subsequently release tension. I like to write music that moves rather than stick to just more of the same. The music should tell a story just as much as the lyrics and that’s how I compose.

I can’t really explain what I do in terms of musical theory. I play by feel. But I do understand enough theory to recognize what you’ve written as true. For any readers who are daunted by the theory, my advice is to play around with intervals and note which ones make you feel something. When you do, you’ll almost inevitably be playing around with “the devil’s interval”. 😈🤘
