Been reading some stuff from Krishnamurti that echoes this. I’ve also heard many others say the same thing. If there was no guru or no books to read, how would go about doing anything? You observe your situation and act as best you can with what information you have available. Ultimately, the responsibility for your actions are yours alone.

I personally like seeking wisdom and reading books, but I do agree with this sentiment. Most of the time, reading just reinforces what I already think, believe, and do. I rarely, if ever, find new wisdom that I couldn’t have learned on my own with no books or guides or gurus.
