The particular statement that I highlighted hit me like a brick though. I’ve been reading Hobbes’ Leviathan for the first time for real (not the cursory skimming that I did back in college). You struck to the very core of what I’ve been disagreeing with in his whole argument in the book, that this constructed Leviathan that we’ve created has some sort of intrinsic hold over us.

Now I can finally finish this book with some words to go with my feelings! Thank you! Maybe I’ll have an interesting article to write in the near future. Thanks again for the inspiration!
