As a philosopher who has actively tried to dispel all illusions of certainty in a quest for some semblance of truth, I find true believers everywhere I go, everyone I speak with. I’ve found that rarely do folks want their beliefs challenged, no matter the belief. I don’t really blame them either. Systematic doubt, actively knowing that one doesn’t know, is extremely painful. I experience this pain acutely everyday, but I have chosen this path and I walk it purposefully. To ask others to do the same is a kind of violence. An altruistic violence, for sure, but still violence.

If I haven’t found any answers in my lifelong search, then I have nothing to give to replace their beliefs other than questions. It seems nobody wants more questions, only answers. Once they think they’ve found them, who am I to attempt to strip them away?

Yet another white dude with yet another opinion. Is that opinion founded in Wisdom? I don't know, you tell me.
