As a former conservative, I sympathize with the left and consider myself an ally to the disempowered. I agree with this assessment wholeheartedly. We should neither white-wash our history, nor ignore the tragedies wrought by Eurocentric colonialism. Our forefathers were human, just like us, and prone to weakness and mistakes in many ways, but also greatness in others. Is messy, muddy, and human.

We have far more in common than not. Can we set aside right/left, and start from the common ground that we both stand on? Literally, we share this earth and its bounty. This ideological polarization is being force fed to us to keep us fighting each other. It’s a game that I’m no longer interested in playing, because it’s set up for a small minority to always win. Common folk cannot win this game, no matter what identity politics you side with.

We are not enemies. We are brothers and sisters. Please come back to the dinner table and let’s talk it out, cry it out… hell let’s trade some fist blows, but leave the guns out of it. We can hug it out after we’ve beaten ourselves bloody. Don’t let the powers that be take away our family. Don’t let them turn you into a murderer. We can come through this with our souls intact if we refuse to play this silly game.

Yet another white dude with yet another opinion. Is that opinion founded in Wisdom? I don't know, you tell me.
